Update offers permissions summaries, fixes and support for Cumulus Sites.

Canto today released Cumulus 8.1.1, which includes support for Cumulus Sites, Canto’s new Web file sharing and distribution product, the newly released InDesign Companion, numerous fixes, and introduces two important new features.

Permissions Summary Tab

For Cumulus administrators, a permissions summary is now available that shows exactly what permissions each user or role has for each catalog hosted by the Cumulus Server. The summary is available from within the Cumulus Client Preferences window. Now, Cumulus administrators can see a bird’s eye overview of access, which can help ensure security, and help users track down and resolve access issues.

Permissions for users and roles can now be seen from within the Cumulus Native Client. This image shows the sets and templates available from within the Sample Catalog to users in the Guest role.

Collection Sharing via Email

Users will benefit from a new option called Send Collection Link, which enables users to select one or more files and have Cumulus generate and send an email link to the files. Passwords and expiration dates are optional. Best of all, recipients don’t need to be Cumulus users, which makes file sharing possible with anyone. The files can be served by either the Cumulus Web Client or the newly released Cumulus Sites.

Users can select files and have Cumulus send a link to one or more recipients. Passwords and expiration dates can be used, and options include limiting what recipients can do with the files, and even whether they can download originals or variants only. (Note: These same options are also available in Cumulus Sites, Canto's new Web publishing technology).

Cumulus 8.1.1 is available at no additional charge to customers on active software support agreements. It can be downloaded from the Canto Customer Portal.
