Does this mean that we can overwrite original embedded metadata? The department I work for has some images with crap metadata which Cumulus reimports if we update – we’ve not yet migrated to 8. Ideally we could ‘fix’ the metadata then overwrite our version to the asset.

If the metadata is IPTC or XMP, you would be able to edit it inside Cumulus and overwrite it back to supported asset formats. Cumulus does not, however, write-back EXIF information. (This ensures the integrity of that metadata, which can include things like shoot date, camera model, lens type, etc.)
